Cry out

We face so many different hardships and trials in our lives. A breakup in a relationship or friendship, division within our families or home, loss of a job or career, addiction, depression, anxiety, dishonesty, distractions, busyness, the list can go on and on. Sometimes we face more than just one of these at a time. Honestly, we sometimes face it all at once! We get this overwhelming feeling that the walls are closing in on us and we have no way out! In that moment it is so easy to start looking for all the ways we can get ourselves out, so that we don’t get crushed by the everyday life we have adapted to. We look for something to fill the gap or emptiness that we are feeling. Unfortunately more of the time it’s something that the world has to offer that is only a temporary fix. Something that will not last and leave us empty.

In these moments, why haven’t we chosen to use prayer as our first response! Is it because we attempted that before and didn’t get what we expected? God, I came to you, I prayed! I need the money to pay this bill and a little more so my friends don’t know I’m broke! I need you to fix this relationship. It will all work out if you just fix them and make them better! God, I need this certain job, the money is better! They didn’t deserve me at the last job with how they treated me. I can attest these are prayers I have prayed. I didn’t get the answers I wanted. God was silent.

God is waiting for us to use prayer as our first response! Come to him boldly to tell him what is going on. Come to him trusting that he will provide the need for us. Not asking for what we think we need to fix the situation.

When we pray, Lord, I trust you will provide the finances I need even in this time of job loss. I trust that you will open a door of opportunity. Lord bring unity in this relationship and rawness.  Expose if this is not of you, Lord, cut the ties if needed too. Lord in this process heal me, expose what I need for wholeness. Cry out to God!!

“Lord, help! They cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.”

~ Psalm 107:28-29

When we cry out to him first this doesn’t mean the walls will just disappear right then and there. But I can tell you they will start to disappear and slow down from closing in. They will start to fall down around you. You will be able to breathe better knowing there is an outlet, a way out and the overwhelming feeling of freedom CAN be experienced!

In all of this, embrace what the Lord has allowed to come your way. Yes this may seem crazy but God is giving you a choice to build your character, build your faith, and your trust in him! Cry out to him, choose God! His word says he will SAVE you from distress but you must CHOOSE God first.

Take a moment and pray,

Lord, I’m here surrounded by so much! I’m asking for peace in this moment. I cry out to you God knowing and standing in faith that my life will not stay in this distress. God, I thank you for every wall that will fall as I give my life fully to you. We give you honor and praise in everything. Amen!

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.” ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Hope you have an awesome day!!
